A 'Breaking Bad' Sequel Starring Val Kilmer?

by Mallory Schlossberg

You know how there was that Kickstarter for potato salad, leaving potato salad's bastard step-cousin coleslaw in emotional shambles? Well, people have all sorts of ideas they want funded, including those of the Heisenberg variety. For instance, take the proposed Anastasia , which is a Breaking Bad sequel starring Val Kilmer and Slash, because of course. The Kickstarter, spearheaded by Lawrence Shepherd of California, needs to raise $500,000 in order to begin filming (and courting Val Kilmer and Slash, I suppose). But what sort of artistic venture would your contribution support? The Kickstarter page describes the project as such:

Val Kilmer & Slash are U.S. Marshals. An ensemble cast will round out with the beautiful Jana Mashonee.

The proposed show, which has gotten a shout-out from the folks over at Entertainment Weekly, claims that it will start where Breaking Bad left off. The two Marshals are off to solve the eternal questions of is Walter White Still alive? Who dragged him away!? In the interim, the proposed show will delve deeper into the personal lives of the two men. Kilmer's character will be an alcoholic who attends meetings regularly. As described on the Kickstarter page:

There will be regular 12 step meeting scenes in Anastasia that Kilmer attends. We will invite stars in the entertainment industry who are in recovery themselves... Russell Brand, Jamie Lee Curtis, Steven Tyler, Dick Van Dyke, Drew Barrymore, Robert Downey Jr., Robin Williams, Neil Young, Eminem, on and on. [...] These will be guest appearances on separate episodes, and the star would be told that all the dialogue they use will be completely created by them.

Everybody loves improv! And everybody loves when Russell Brand, Val Kilmer, Eminem, and Dick Van Dyke get in a room together.

Shepherd's goal is to have the series premiere the Monday before Halloween. But fear not — he's already written 10 episodes, and he's confident that he'll succeed, because, you know, Val Kilmer.

Would you watch it? I'd watch Slash do anything. AMC has yet to comment on whether or not this is a viable contender for Better Call Saul , the actual Breaking Bad spinoff, but if potato salad could make that much money ... what could Slash and Kilmer with a dash of Heisenberg make?

You can read Shepherd's full production concept over here, and remember: if you dream hard enough, Kilmer may show up.
