Two New Prince Albums? How Sexual

by Mallory Schlossberg

Attention, Prince fans! Time to bust out your favorite, tightest velour pants 'cause things are gonna get *~*seXuAL*~* up in here really soon. No longer utilizing a symbol for his name, Prince is comin' back with not one but two albums on September 30th, and Rolling Stone has announced the details and track titles. Unleash your loins like it's 1999!

In case you think my impression about Prince is farfetched, let me assure you that when a reviewer for The Minneapolis Star Tribune initially heard some of the music off his upcoming albums, the reviewer utilized phrases such as "wild and rude," "funkier and nastier," and the title of the review referred to the process of listening to Prince as "a late night taste." If that doesn't make you want to take off your pants and not tell anybody about the fact that you're pantsless, then please, tell me what does.

Damn.

Anyhow! These two albums, Plectrumelectrum, which will be released with 3rdEyeGirl, and Art Official Age, which is his solo album, are available for pre-order at ArtOfficialAge.com, and you can already prepare yourself for the smokefest by streaming the song "Clouds" over at Complex. Funky, indeed.

But not only is this album uber funky, it's saying something. It's got a message. Back in June, Prince said that he "finally [had] something that was a cohesive statement." So what is this statement that gels together so cohesively? It's pretty apparent if you take a look at the track titles. Art Official Age's track list is as follows:

1. "Art Official Cage"2. "Clouds"3. "Breakdown"4. "The Gold Standard"5. "U Know"6. "Breakfast Can Wait"7. "This Could Be Us"8. "What It Feels Like"9. "Affirmation I & II"10. "Way Back Home"11. "Funknroll"12. "Time"13. "Affirmation III"

You know that "Breakfast Can Wait" is about morning boning, and you know "The Gold Standard" has to do with the gold standard of lovin'. Or golden vibrators, your pick. Basically, the cohesive statement is: SEX. SEX. SEX.

But what about the track list for Plectrumelectrum? Is it just as sexy sounding?

1. "Wow"2. "Pretzelbodylogic"3. "Aintturninround"4. "Plectrumelectrum"5. "Whitecaps"6. "Fixurlifeup"7. "Boytrouble"8. "Stopthistrain"9. "Anotherlove"10. "Tictactoe"11. "Marz"12. "Funknroll"

So, the answer to that question is a resounding YES.

You know what Pretzelbodylogic is. It's part of the musical kama sutra. Plus logic. And pretzels. And you know what he means by "Wow." I don't know what he means by "Whitecaps" though. That seems up for debate.

So come September 30th, you can pull out your copy of Fifty Shades of Grey and listen to Prince's new music! IS IT GETTING STEAMY IN HERE...or am I just re-reading that track list?
