Kim Kardashian Publically Slams Katie Couric

by Rachel Simon

When Kim Kardashian and Kanye West finally show off baby North to the public, you can bet it won't be on a talk show called Katie. On Thursday, the same day Katie Couric dissed the reality star's famous family in an interview with In Touch, an angry Kardashian posted a photo on Instagram of a baby gift and message sent by Couric, and captioned it "I hate fake media friends ... may I humbly suggest you not send gifts then talk s**t."

While we hate to side with a Kardashian, she has a point. In the In Touch article, Couric said that she doesn't understand why the Kardashians are famous, and that she thinks "it’s mostly teenage girls that are interested." It's pretty rude for Couric to criticize the family so publicly and then send Kim and Kanye a baby gift, along with a congratulatory, friendly note wishing them to "continue the K tradition" of names as if nothing had transpired.

It's a low move, and it's understandable that Kardashian is furious. She may be used to people insulting her family's way of life, but the critics typically don't then try to build friendships. Famous or not, no one likes a two-face.

Perhaps Couric will respond, and we'll get some more insight into how she actually feels about Kim, Kanye, and the rest of their family. It's unlikely she'll issue an apology — technically, she didn't do anything flat-out wrong. She just wasn't nice — but it'd be interesting if she at least admitted that she was hypocritical and acknowledged her mistake.

Pissing off a Kardashian may not seem like the biggest deal, but being trustworthy is — and right now, Couric is showing that her trademark "sincerity" may not always apply.
