Joan Rivers' Autopsy Report is Frustrating

by Alanna Bennett

The days following the death of comedy groundbreaker Joan Rivers have been a flurry of tributes, remembrances, and everything else that comes with the death of an entertainment icon. With that, love it or hate it, comes along a rabid curiosity. So it is that some may be interested to learn that the results of Joan Rivers' autopsy are in — though the results might not teach you much.

This news is coming via TMZ, who says they've been informed that the medical examiner's office "could not find a clear 'cause and manner of death'" after their physical examination. In other words, further examinations and studies will need to be conducted, including interviews with those medical professionals present during the throat procedure during which Rivers stopped breathing and was rushed to the ICU. They'll also be doing toxicology testing.

Rivers was hospitalized at Mount Sinai hospital in late August after complications during an in-patient throat procedure. The clinic at which she was having the procedure is now reportedly receiving death threats following Rivers' death. Rivers was 81 when she died, and as ABC News asserts, the clinic is under investigation from the New York State Health Department but "there is no suspicion of wrongdoing."
