Katy Perry Vs. Gaga on the Charts

This week, both Katy Perry and Lady Gaga released singles —"Roar" and "Applause," respectively. Billboard revealed today that both of the new singles landed in the top 10, but Katy Perry's "Roar" sold 557,000 downloads, landing it at No. 2 behind Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," whereas Gaga's "Applause" only sold 218,000 downloads putting it at No. 6.

Am I a complete fuddy duddy for not caring about the Billboard charts? Am I supposed to care? I heard strange rumblings that Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton are in a full-blown feud, because Hilton said he liked Perry's single more than Gaga's, and this kind of middle-school drama between celebrities stresses me out, man — when do they have time to fight so intensely between making records and flying all over the world for tour? I can barely remember the last time I did laundry.

Both Lady Gaga and Katy Perry will perform this Sunday the MTV Video Music Awards, and maybe this whole thing is a publicity stunt. Katy Perry wants fans to pick her next single at the VMAs, and Gaga said she's gonna dance until her feet bleed. These gals have enough weird vibes to survive without feuding and fighting, and really, as cheesy as it sounds: they're both winners. Number two and number six out of billions and billions of songs is obviously amazing. So guys, can't we all just get along?
