Three people are dead after a shooting at an UPS facility in Birmingham, Alabama, on Tuesday morning. According to The Associated Press, the gunman, a former employee of the company, is among the dead. He wasn't killed by police, but reportedly found dead at the scene of the crime. The two other victims, whose names have yet to be released, were also UPS employees.

Local authorities received calls about an active shooter at the facility around 9:30 a.m. The alerts reportedly came from employees who were trying to escape the gunfire. According to The New York Daily News, the body of the gunman, along with the two victims, was found in the facility's warehouse near the main offices.

Al.com reports that the gunman was a white man in his 40s. Although a former employee of the company, he was wearing an UPS uniform when he opened gunfire on the facility. Police believe the gunman shot himself.

Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper told Al.com that the motivation behind the workplace shooting remains unclear. "We have no information regarding the motivation," Roper said.

"We had people die today who didn’t deserve it," the police chief added at a local news conference.

Although no other injuries were initially reported, ABC 33/40 is reporting that a local hospital did receive one non-gunshot patient injured in the shooting.
