'50 Shades' Leads Have 'Incredible Chemistry'

Time for your daily Fifty Shades of Grey update, because none of us are going to escape all the news stories about this movie for probably years to come. Best to accept it now. According to JustJared, producers are already speaking out about why Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson landed the lead roles in the film, which tons of popular actors and actresses were up for.

"Auditions were stunning, incredible chemistry!" one producer, Michael De Luca, tweeted at a fan who expressed excitement about the Sons of Anarchy star and the former Ben & Kate star sharing the silver screen together.

Despite De Luca's totally convincing words, the casting choices are still getting hate — mostly from people who are probably disappointed that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart didn't just do this movie too, because that's what the author envisioned anyway.

Fifty Shades was, after all, a Twilight fanfiction first. In response, producer Dana Brunetti tweeted, "There is a lot that goes into casting that isn’t just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc. ... so if your favorite wasn’t cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective."

So, that's that.

If you've been living under a rock or some similar cliché for the past day: Charlie Hunnam is officially set to play S&M lover Christian Grey in the film adaptation of the erotic novel, and Dakota Johnson will play his lover who's a newbie to S&M, Anastasia Steele. There's a lot of sex involved, obviously.

Fifty Shades of Grey is being directed by Nowhere Boy director Sam Taylor-Johnson, and will hit theaters on August 1, 2014.
