It's been nearly two years since her tragic 2012 death, and now a new Whitney Houston documentary is in the works that will include unseen footage of the actress in the form of home movies.
According to Indiewire, the documentary is being produced by Pat Houston, Whitney's sister-in-law, and will focus on her life, giving audiences "a look at rare, unseen home footage of Whitney." Rather than a biography, the project is being described as a "hagiography," which basically means that it will be uncritical and reverential to her story. In other words, it won't be anything objective.
This project is the latest in a long line of Whitney-centered documentaries that have been released since her death in February 2012. There was that 1-hour special on OWN called Remembering Whitney, and that reality television show, The Houstons: On Our Own, that followed the family members who survived her including her daughter Bobbi Kristina.
There's also a tell-all book courtesy of Houston's mother, Cissy — titled Remembering Whitney: My Story Of Love, Loss, and the Night the Music Stopped — which tells "the real and definitive story of her daughter." With the book and the reality show, this documentary is the third Houston family-helmed Whitney project.
There's no word yet on when the new documentary will be released, or any details pertaining to its format or other family members involved.
