Solange Does Nude the Right Way — With Color

by Erin Mayer

The younger Knowles sister must have some sort of secret personal style information that the rest of us lack because she really, really knows how to put together an outfit. We can learn a lot from her. For example, Solange dressed up a nude outfit with several pops of incredible color for the Joe Fresh Toronto Fashion Week party. The best part? According to Refinery 29, every single piece she wore costs less than $100 so you can actually afford to copy the look point for point.

As Solange shows us, the key to mastering a mostly beige ensemble is to play with texture. She combined a chunky and slightly shiny knit with a slitted mini-skirt, nude sandals (okay, so these are Stuart Weitzman and you may not be able to afford them), and a long necklace that was still somehow kind of beige-y despite also being metallic. Then the superstar layered an emerald green leather moto jacket on top (draped fashion editor style on her shoulders) and topped things off with a swipe of hot purple lipstick. Who says beige is boring?

So maybe getting funky with pops of color renders this outfit no longer "head-to-to nude," but you can't deny that the coat and lipstick elevate this look from simply "chic" to "impossibly cool." If Solange weren't already famous, this ensemble would have instantly made her street-style photographer bait.
