This Situation Just Keeps Getting Worse

This is horrifying. According to a new report from TMZ, it looks like the romantic relationship between Here Comes Honey Boo Boo matriarch Mama June, and convicted child molester Mark McDaniels can't even be stopped by police intervention because, according to the site, neither of them are doing anything lawfully wrong by seeing each other. While the relationship has already (thankfully) resulted in network TLC yanking Here Comes Honey Boo Boo from their line-up, effective immediately, the thought that police can't interfere in this situation now is troubling, to say the least, considering that Mama June has three young children still under her care, and her eldest daughter, Anna — now 20 years old — has already publicly revealed she was one of McDaniels' victims when she was only 8 years old.

While child services reportedly have been alerted to the situation (good news, considering Mama June's youngest daughter, Alana, is only 9 years old) there is apparently nothing police can do to stop Mama June from seeing McDaniels, because he's not legally prohibited from seeing anyone in the Thompson family except Anna. And, since Anna reportedly wants nothing to do with McDaniels, this hasn't proved a problem for the relationship. From TMZ:

This is scary ... but June could literally shack up with McDaniel and cops would be powerless to stop it, unless he lays a hand on her kids. [...]What's more ... although we've reported children's services is looking into the situation, we're told unless there's a real threat to the children, they can't take any action. The reality is ... McDaniel has done his time and is allowed to mingle in society.

Though cops have McDaniels "on their radar," according to the report, it's deeply troubling to hear that not much can be done to help the situation — especially considering the fact that McDaniels seems to have embedded himself into the Thompson family's lives:

TLC did the right thing by canceling the series, and I hope on some level that helps Mama June see the potential error of her ways — since it's beginning to seem like police and other arms of the government can't do much in this case. We can only hope that this point that Mama June wakes up and realizes she needs to do what's best for her children, because, above all, that's the most important thing.
