Life-Sized J. Law Dessert Takes The Cake

by Emma Goddard

Although I hate to say it because I like to believe that I’m Jennifer Lawrence’s one and only best friend (as do many of her loyal followers, I'm sure) it looks like one woman in England has proven that she truly is the biggest fan of J. Law and The Hunger Games in all the land. I know what you’re thinking: This information must be incorrect because you’ve been sitting there all along thinking that you were Lawrence’s biggest fan ever. But, before you get too upset, ask yourself…have you ever baked a cake of Katniss Everdeen? No? Well, Lara Clarke not only made a life-sized Jennifer Lawrence cake to honor her favorite Hunger Games heroine, but the Walsall, England resident even won a gold medal for it at the Cake International contest. So I'm pretty sure we all know who Lawrence's next Academy Awards date is going to be.

If the 150 eggs, 22 pounds of butter, and 22 pounds flour she used to make her Katniss cake — as well as her time simply molding it once it was baked — hasn’t convinced you that she’s JLaw’s number one fan, then I’m not sure what will.

This isn't Clarke's first cake-related award: She also won a second place silver medal in the large decorate exhibit section for her life-sized cake of Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage as his character, Tyrion Lannister. Could this girl get any cooler? Turns out, yes, yes she can, because on top of her wins this year, Clarke also won first place in last year’s cake battle for her rendition of Captain Jack Sparrow.

Although her first cake of Johnny Depp’s Pirates of the Caribbean character only stood at 5’5’’ last year (he's 5'10''), she obviously upped her game with her 5’10’’ giant of a cake, which more accurately depicts Lawrence’s height. The likeness and attention to detail is absolutely spectacular, from Katniss' famous braided hair, to her black Hunger Games attire and bow in hand, everything is there, and Clarke really did it all by taking two and a half months to make sure she’d be a winner.

I wouldn’t recommend eating a cake that old, but at least her work is nice to look at! And the best part of all of this? Clarke hasn’t even been professionally trained. Mind. Blown. Instead, she is completely self-taught, according to The Independent , and learned her trade by watching movies and TV shows, like our one and only Cake Boss. Buddy Valastro and JLaw would be proud.
