Kendall Jenner Shares Selfie Tips With Joan Smalls

by Alexa Tucker

Kendall Jenner was named Estée Lauder's newest spokesmodel this week, marking a huge career moment for the in-demand model/Keeping Up With The Kardashians star. With the nod, Jenner joins the likes of Constance Jablonski, Liu Wen, and pal Joan Smalls. In an edit for the iconic cosmetic brand's website, Smalls sat down with Jenner to talk fashion, makeup, and friendship.

As far as beauty goes, Jenner shared that she prefers an eye look over a bold lip. "Sometimes I like a little bit of a cat-eye, or a wing is nice," she says. "And lots of mascara. I love mascara." Jenner's got gorgeous eyes, so no surprise there. She also says she sticks to nude or gray nail polishes (except when she's on vacation,) swears by lip balm on planes, and considers Angelina Jolie her beauty icon (good choice.)

The most interesting and useful information from the conversation, though? The art of the perfect selfie. Her first tip: Make sure you have good lighting. And when you're in the posting process, don't go filter-crazy — wait, what? Give up my precious Valencia? Maybe not. If I were to follow Kendall's rules, though, I'd still be able to use black and white.

There's one tip that ranks higher than the rest on the selfie stick for Kendall. "Above all, you have to know your face," says Jenner. "Everybody has their good side. And practice! Practice makes perfect."

Something tells me that Jenner has two good sides.
