As if you needed another reason to love her, Natalie Dormer just defended Jennifer Lawrence against the nude photo hackers and she was totally no-nonsense about her disgust. Speaking to Nylon magazine Dormer addressed the August photo leak with some characteristic sass and a side of sympathy. "What Jen went through recently was just horrific. And I don't think there's any level of fame that can justify that kind of invasion into privacy, not to mention laws being broken," the Mockingjay actress said about her co-star. "I mean, people just need to get a grip if they think that's even halfway acceptable."
It's nice to see another reassuring statement that places the blame rightfully on the shoulders of the hackers, rather than on the celeb herself. Lawrence was totally within her rights to take photos of her own body. It was a sex crime that she had them stolen from her and published without her consent. But I'm not surprised Dormer had such a feminist response to the horrific circumstances.
She's been very outspoken on the importance of appreciating strong women, especially after playing one in the third Hunger Games movie. “Women are over 50 percent of the population. [Mockingjay is] one of the few films that actually represents us," Dormer told The Daily Beast. "President Coin or Cressida could have easily been played by a man ... I’m glad that cinema is catching up to what television has known for a while: that three-dimensional, complex women get an audience engaged as much as the men."
There's no doubt that Dormer's character was certainly engaging in the movie. She escaped from the comfort of the Capitol to join the rebel team, and as the director for Katniss' propos was in the thick of battle. Yet she showed no fear and always had Katniss' back. In real life, Dormer is just as badass as Cressida, and totally has Jennifer Lawrence's back off-screen, too.
Although Lawrence has admitted she doesn't blame herself for the nude leak, it must be nice for her to know that her friend and fellow actress feels the same way. Katniss would approve.
