Rebecca Ferguson's Career Is Off To a Great Start

by Lindsey Kupfer

It’s girls' night in this weekend, because Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent airs on Lifetime. The network is airing The Red Tent in two parts, so get out your red wine and watch Rebecca Ferguson play Dinah, the leading lady of the show. You may not know who Rebecca Ferguson is yet, but the Swedish actress is working her way up in Hollywood. Pretty soon, she will be a household name and she’s already been nominated for a Golden Globe. Before we get to her credits, let me break down The Red Tent for you, as someone who read 50 percent of the book.

Here’s the deal, I was assigned to read The Red Tent in a book club, and about halfway in there was a whole lot of talk about "afterbirth" and I couldn't go on. However all you really need to know going into it, besides the fact that it’s a fictionalized story about Dinah, a minor character in the Bible, is that Jacob has four wives, beginning with Dinah’s mom Leah, aka Academy Award-nominated actress Minnie Driver. All the ladies of Jacob chill in a tent together when they’re menstruating or giving birth and gossip. It actually sounds kind of great.

Tune into The Red Tent on Sunday night at 9 p.m. to see Dinah's story, but for now, here's what you should know about the woman who plays her.

The White Queen

Ferguson was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2014 for her performance as Queen Elizabeth in the miniseries The White Queen. She was the lead character on the show, which was also nominated for best miniseries at the Golden Globes and the Emmys. What I’m trying to say is that Ferguson was a major part in getting the nominations.

Mission: Impossible 5

Because there can never be enough Mission: Impossible movies, at least we can look forward to seeing Ferguson a year from now in the newest installment.

Hercules

Ferguson plays Ergenia in the newest Hercules, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Ferguson plays a princess, a single mother, and basically an all around badass in this movie.

The Vatican

Although you won’t be able to see her in this, Rebecca Ferguson was set to star as Olivia Borghese in the Showtime pilot for The Vatican. Ridley Scott created the show, which also starred Kyle Chandler and Matthew Goode, but it apparently never went though and the project was declared dead. Maybe one day someone will revive it.

Nya Tider

From 1999 to 2000, Ferguson starred in a Swedish soap opera called Nya Tider. She played a character named Anna Gripenhielm and that’s all I can really tell you about it, considering I don’t speak swedish. So instead you can watch the video above and guess what is going on, because that’s the best part of soap operas.
