The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating Bill Cosby after the latest allegations of sexual assault from Judy Huth. The suit was first filed on Tuesday by Huth, and she alleges that the Cosby Show star molested her at the Playboy Mansion when she was 15, forcing her to perform sexual acts on him. The Associated Press reports that after Huth met with LAPD officer Jane Kim on Friday, the department opened an investigation on against the comedian. Attorney Gloria Allred added that Huth also met with three special victim unit detectives on Friday, and Huth plans to "provide any and all evidence that she has."
So far, Cosby's attorney, Martin Singer, has been fighting back against Huth. He accused her and another lawyer of extortion, claiming she tried to sell the story to a tabloid a decade ago. There was at first a demand for $100,000 for Huth to keep quiet, but it was later raised to $250,000 as more cases came out. And what exactly is the number of women who have accused Cosby of sexual assault? At least 20 have come forward so far. Cosby has yet to acknowledge the cases head-on, but he did thank Whoopi Goldberg and Jill Scott for publicly supporting him. The public outcry about the accusations about the 77-year-old have been loud and clear, and on Friday, his Hollywood Walk of Fame star was defaced with the word "rapist" written across it. Cosby has yet to be charged with a crime for any of the lawsuits.
