How To Get Victoria's Secret Angel Hair

by Alexa Tucker

One of the best parts of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is that you don't see crazy, avant-garde hairstyles and crazy makeup — the Angels are known for their natural-looking bombshell waves and glow-y skin. And even though we know their looks are far from effortless, we covet the laid-back aesthetic of their hair and makeup. Sure, I have a larger chance of winning the lottery than becoming a Victoria's Secret Angel, but that doesn't mean I can't look like one — GHD is sharing behind-the-scenes secrets to getting that undone curl look the models rock on the runway.

Lead stylist Akki Shirakawa and his team used GHD's hair tools to give the girls "hair with movement." To get the 47 girls walking in the show their sexy, tousled locks, the stylists' biggest trick was mixing up their techniques. After using a light mousse and blowing out the hair, they used a combination of the Classic Curl Iron and Soft Curl Iron from GHD's Curve collection. By switching between a large-barrel and a medium-barrel curling iron and varying the thickness of the sections they worked on, the waves look natural, not prom-y. To keep the look loose, the ends were left uncurled. From the looks of the video, the curls were then clipped up to set them in place, and then taken out and blasted with a hairdryer to separate them before the models stepped onto the catwalk.

The best part? This isn't long-haired ladies only. Karlie Kloss' hair may have grown out a little bit, but she still showed us that the 'do looks great on medium-length hair, too. Hey, I may even try it on my lob — I have nothing to lose and only heavenly Victoria's Secret hair to gain.
