Jennifer Lopez Boards High-Profile Project

by Kate Ward

Besides her high-profile role as a judge on American Idol (and her high-profile relationship with the young Casper Smart), Jennifer Lopez has been laying low. After leaving the singing reality series, the actress booked supporting roles in What To Expect When You're Expecting and the blink-and-you-missed-it Parker, and voiced a new character in Ice Age: Continental Drift.

But it seems Lopez is prepared to fully re-enter the spotlight, scoring a role in the high-profile The 33 , which is based on the real-life tale of 33 Chilean miners who were stuck under a cave-in in 2010. The story unsurprisingly made national news until the miners were rescued safely 69 days later, and unsurprisingly was picked up by Hollywood buyers soon thereafter.

Though it's unclear what Lopez will play in the film, she joins stars Antonio Banderas, Martin Sheen, and 300's Rodrigo Santoro, who hopefully shows up on screen wearing these.
