Mark Wahlberg as a Hot Professor? We're Listening

We've all been there. You're in college, you stroll into your English lecture, look up, and realize it's happened: You got the hot English professor. Most of us leave it at that, hanging wistfully on teach's every word about Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. But in the case of the Brie Larson's character in the clip below, Mark Wahlberg's The Gambler ends up being a hot professor she just can resist. (I do not blame the woman. HI.) Sure, the movie is about Wahlberg's Jim Bennett gambling his way to a serious beating at the hands of Michael K. Williams from The Wire, but let's all just admit that Wahlberg is really selling the sexy college professor vibe, too.

And while much of the sexiness is coming from his slightly open shirt and Wahlbergian charm, there's also the compliment factor: Professor Bennett is taking a moment to point out who he considers to be the most talented writer in the class. Spoiler: It's Larson's Amy Phillips, who sheepishly looks up when he points her out. (Don't worry, she gets less sheepish later, if the official trailer is any indication. Larson's not generally one to play a wilting flower of a lady.)

This clip takes place before all the Larson-Wahlberg makeouts we've all seen in the trailers, so take it as a little amuse-bouche for the film's more romantic moments. (You're welcome.)

The Gambler will hit theaters on Christmas Day.
