Congratulations are in order for Keira Knightly and her husband James Righton. On Friday, a rep confirmed that Keira Knightley is expecting her first child with Righton! As a fan, I am very excited for her, but I feel a little left out. I am shocked that I don't know more about this couple. They are keeping their private life private and that's great for them and all, but as a fan of all things celebrity I would like to know more about the two of them before the baby arrives.
Even though Knightly is an A-list movie star, their relationship is surprisingly not-Hollywood. For instance, many sources report that they were introduced by British television personality Alexa Chung. However, this relationship is not rooted in celebrity like you may have thought. So how did the husband and wife initially get together?
It is actually a story that sounds all too familiar to me and other young adults of my generation. Knightley and Righton met when they were wasted at a mutual friend's house. No, I'm not kidding at all. Celebrities do this too and apparently they get wifed up and start families as a result. Lesson learned: do not immediately write off your drunken meetings.
Keira Knightly cleared up the common rumor, telling The Guardian that the couple met at a dinner party, "through our mate Tim, not Alexa Chung, as people keep telling me. We were very drunk." I wish that would happen to me! Well, not the "very drunk" part. I am perfectly capable of making that happen on my own. But you get what I'm saying. They actually managed to make this sound cute and socially acceptable.
Knightly and Righton have that perfect balance between celebrity and normalcy. They are beautiful and famous, yet down-to-earth and able to admit that their romance is not some kind of Hollywood fairy tale. I wonder what their future child will think of that story. They may have to edit some details when they are asked to share that info.
