Channing Tatum's Daughter's Name Means... What?!

by Kate Ward

One day after Us Weekly gave us word the reigning Sexiest Man Alive had welcomed a baby girl with his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum, the couple have announced the name of their daughter. According to a message posted on Tatum's website, the acting duo is the latest Hollywood couple to choose an interesting name for their child:

"Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Channing Tatum are thrilled to announce the birth of their daughter, Everly Tatum, who was born on May 31st in London," the site read. "Sending love and light to Chan, Jenna, and Ms. Everly!"

Of course, you won't be able to see the comment on the site at this point — presumably, thanks to traffic, the post on Tatum's site is currently offline. Which either means that every entertainment journalist in the nation was on deadline at the same time (likely), or parents of the world are eager to follow in Tatum's naming footsteps.

After all, Everly — the name of both a folk duo and half of rock and roll band the Everly Brothers — is already on the baby name rise. According to Baby Center, the name's popularity has steadily increased amongst users in the past four years — in 2009, it ranked at 1,348; last year, it ranked at 414 rank. (As for the entire U.S. population, Everly is the 907th most popular name.)

And no doubt Magic Mike will work his magic on those numbers, causing it to surge in 2013. Never mind that the name's meaning is, of all things, "wild boar in woodland clearing."
