Quentin Sommerville, a BBC Middle East correspondent, got high while filming burning drugs, collapsing into a certified giggle fit while shooting a report which required him to stand downwind from a roaring bonfire containing the blazing remnants about 19 thousand pounds of narcotics. You know, NBD. What happened next won't surprise you—He seemingly got very, very stoned on camera in a glorious example of corpsing.
Sommerville shared his giggly experience with followers via Twitter: "It's been a year of bullets & bloodshed. You've earned a xmas laugh, at my expense" with a link to the video. The tweet has since been deleted, due to copyright infringement issues. Thankfully, the Internet moves fast to preserve the fruits from peoples' lapses in judgement, so copies exist.
The video, called "Don't Inhale," was shot four years ago in Afghanistan. It catches Sommerville as he makes several earnest efforts to report. "Burning behind me is 8.5 tons of heroin, opium, hashish, and other narcotics,” Sommerville says before swiftly crumbling into a heap of hysterics. The journalist and his cameraman got too high off the drug bonfire's smoke to ever make it past the intro. A BBC spokesperson told The Telegraph the video was never actually released before Sommerville's tweet: "The video of Quentin corpsing, which has now been deleted, was posted in the spirit of a blooper," the spokesperson says.
Well, it's true we all love a good blooper. And what says "happy wintertime celebrations to you" better than a straight-laced British guy adorably cackling alongside a blazing dope fire?
