7 Gosling Golden Era Moments To Tide You Over

by Alanna Bennett

Update: According to Warner Bros., Lost River will get a limited theatrical release in Los Angeles and New York, but this has no release date as of yet.

There's some sad news for Ryan Gosling today: His directorial debut Lost River won't be getting a U.S. theatrical release from Warner Bros., according to Variety. It was rumored amongst all that dramatic Sony hoopla that Gosling had an interest in the Ghostbusters reboot's male role, but other than that flicker of hope at the end of the tunnel, there's not much publicly on the horizon for the new dad, except for an untitled Terrence Malick project (guaranteed to get weird) and 2016's The Nice Guys with Russell Crowe and Matt Bomer.

That's a respectable roster for a man who very actively took a step back from acting and the public eye after a very intense, very weird few years, in which he was one of the most memed, in-demand, heart-throbbed actors out there. But I kinda miss Gosling's particular take on stardom and the world, which is why it's a bummer we won't be getting a full-blown press tour as he promotes his directorial debut. We'll likely still get somethingLost River will reportedly be available through "home entertainment" come April. But we've got a while to wait until we're back at full-tilt Gosling.

Honestly, that's probably for the best for Gosling and his family — his baby daughter with Eva Mendes should probably be grateful she did not arrive at the height of Gosling madness. But there was a certain charm to the sometimes idiosyncratic nature to Gosling's transformation from typecast asymmetrical Damaged Man to international heartthrob, so I'm gonna need to delve a bit into nostalgia to get us through this dark period of Gosling drought.

Here are some of the best moments of Gosling's reign, in and out of his movies.

It's a weird life.

In case you haven't seen this: It gets a little graphic at the end.

Gosling Makes People Think He Harmed Girl Scouts

He didn't, that we know of; he just took all their cookies and handed them out like a Girl Scouts Santa Claus.

Gosling Breaks Up Fight In New York City

His publicist must have had a really good day that day. Nothing bolsters an America's sweetheart deal like actual real-life heroism.

Gosling Reads the "Hey Girl"s

Aw, precious sheepish Gosling.

Gosling Won't Eat His Cereal

The actor himself technically had nothing to do with this. But who cares, really, when you've got Vines like these?
