Michelle's Going to Love That Obama Said This

by Krystin Arneson

Details have come to light about a secret health initiative launched by Michelle Obama against the President himself: In another great accidental mic-pickup, Obama revealed that Mobama — not the general electorate — was the one who scared him into giving up smoking.

The president was picked up by a CNN microphone while chatting privately with UN official Maina Kiai at the organization's General Assembly meeting yesterday.

"I hope you've given up smoking," Obama said to Kiai in the CNN transcript.

"Sometimes" Kiai replied, and then seems to have asked the American president whether he had kicked the habit yet.

"I haven't had a cigarette in probably six years," Obama said. "And that's because I'm scared of my wife."

In a humble diplomatic gesture, Michelle refuses to take the credit for her success — she said last year it was the daughters Obama who had motivated their dad to kick the habit (another force to be reckoned with, for sure). Obama had said in 2009 he was "95 percent cured" of his addiction, and a presidential medical report in 2011 declared him "tobacco-free."

Her husband was just one of her crusades: She's also gotten American youth to kick their sedentary habits through her powers of PSA persuasion.
