3 Parts Of Your Skin You're Forgetting To Care For

by Miki Hayes

You've heard that the skin around the eyes is one of the first places that shows aging. And you know that prevention is easier than correction, so you make sure to use an eye cream every night and wear sunglasses outside. But it's not that you're afraid of aging. You just don't want to age prematurely. So for now, no crow's feet for you. Not yet. But unfortunately for your low-maintenance self, there are other areas besides the face that also show premature signs of aging. Sigh. In addition to the eyes, there's also breast cream to worry about, not to mention your neck, décolleté, and hands.

One general step to keep these areas healthy is to never skip moisturizer. When skin is thinner and more sensitive (neck and chest) or put to more work (hands), it is especially important to keep it hydrated so the skin stays smooth and plump. But to really prevent early signs of aging, one of the best things you can do is wear sunscreen. Overexposure to the sun is one of the biggest culprits for prematurely aging skin as it can lead to dark spots, wrinkles, and a more leathery texture. If you want to take more preventative measures or need to reverse some damage, there are products that specifically target these troublesome areas. Here's what to try:

For The Neck

StriVectin TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream, $95, Strivectin

Just like eyes, the skin around the neck is extremely delicate, making it more prone to wrinkling and sagging. To prevent and correct this, make sure to use a type of firming cream like this one from StriVectin.

For The Girls

Lush Lovely Jubblies Breast Cream, $26, LUSH

No, you can't stand on your head for an hour a day to help prevent gravity's effect on your twins. BUT. You can use a firming cream to help keep your breast-skin tight and your breasts themselves looking perky. You're welcome.

For The Hands

Supergoop! Forever Young Hand Cream, $12, Supergoop

We put our hands through a lot but tend to forget to treat them with extra care. Since hands are usually the first place on our bodies that show signs of aging, it's important to give them what they need. That means moisture and sun protection. This one from Supergoop! hydrates, lightens discoloration, and has SPF 40. No permanent leather gloves for you.
