Kerry Washington, Uzo Aduba & Gabrielle Union Slayed At The NAACP Image Awards, So Here Are The Night's Noteworthy Looks

At The 46th annual NAACP Image Awards in Pasadena, California last night, the glamorous ladies of TV and Film came out in droves to celebrate people of color in the arts. They also wore the crap out of some pretty dresses. Kerry Washington rocked a boudoir-y crimson slipdress that made me actually look forward to V-Day. Gabrielle Union killed it a cutout down that may have been made of scuba textiles. Uzo Aduba, my queen, looked glamorous as per uje. Let's take a look at some of the best looks from the NAACP Image Awards, because we can never have enough red carpet gown porn.

Uzo Aduba

Gotta love that subtle embroidery that almost camouflages itself into Aduba’s dress. Also, Charles James reference?

Ava DuVernay

DuVernay’s metallic frock transforms her into a silver statue of a person and reminds us that she deserves more silver and gold statues for her artistic merits.

Tracee Ellis Ross

With the fit and neckline of this sultry dress, Ross is the incarnation of a sex monster.

Gabrielle Union

I would like to think that Union’s funky dress is made of Neoprene, considering the apparent way it’s falling, but I’m not 100 percent sure. However, if it WAS a scuba gown, I would heartily approve.

Kerry Washington

Washington’s slip dress is getting me extremely excited for Valentine’s day.

Angela Bassett

Watch and learn, people of Earth, as Angela Bassett schools you on how to slay a deco gown.

Jerrika Hinton

From Hinton’s statement lip to her hair, to her glamorous yet simple frock, she’s serving some updated ’70s Diana Ross realness.

Yara Shahidi

Shahidi’s look MAY be my favorite of the night. I’m always a sucker for a good menswear-influenced look, and I wouldn’t kick a PeeWee Herman reference outta bed either.

Carmen Ejogo

Raising her arms may have been slightly uncomfortable for Ejogo throughout the night, but the effect of this off-the-shoulder gown sure was stunning.

Laverne Cox

As glamorous as Cox usually is, something about this look doesn’t sit well with me. I love the purple, but there appears to be an excess of tulle in her skirt that I can’t get on board with.
