Joan Smalls (and Her Cheekbones) Were All Over the Spring 2014 Runways

At 25, this gorgeous Puerto Rican model has got to be having the time of her life: She's walking in the world's best runway shows, she's ranked #8 on Forbes' list of the highest-paid models of 2013, and she's earned the cool #1 spot on Models.com's list of top 50 models. Her sharp-cheekboned beauty makes her the central focus of whatever show she's in, and makeup artists tend to let her beauty stand alone (except for Karl Lagerfeld, but we'll get to that). Though designers often dress her in severely contrasting looks during the same show, she's unmistakably Joan in every one of them.

Oscar de la Renta, New York Fashion Week

Joan wore the second look of the de la Renta show, in a mega spring coat (one of Fashion Month's top trends). But as chic as the oversized checkered lapel may be, this look paled in comparison to what came next...

She opened DKNY in baggy denim overalls, an outfit that just wouldn't have worked on anyone else.

Donna Karan, New York Fashion Week

For Donna Karan's eponymous label, Joan wore a flowing, sand-goddess gown that made her look like a mirage in the desert.

A simple strapless dress, flowing hair, and adorable wedges — and she still doesn't look like a regular girl.

Alexander Wang, New York Fashion Week

Joan snagged the second-to-last look in the Wang show, in overalls again — but sleek, laser-cut, leather ones this time.

Everything from the hair to the makeup to the styling of this Kors look is amazingly wearable. Especially the hair. And the makeup. And the styl—ahh! Love it all.

Gucci, Milan Fashion Week

The Gucci show was a bit hit-or-miss, but even the weird cuts and exposed bra look regal on Joan.

Chanel was the only show to really disguise her in a wig and wild eye makeup, but her cheekbones and lips speak for themselves.
