How to Have a T. Swift Valentine's Day

by Nicole Pomarico

I may have a boyfriend now, but for the first 22 Valentine's Days of my life, I was perpetually single. I am well-versed in the art of absolutely loathing Feb. 14, especially when it comes to watching everyone else get flowers and candy from their significant others and feeling single as hell. And let's not forget that there is a lot of good that comes with being unattached on a day all about couples, like having all the heart-shaped candy to yourself and not having to stress about finding the perfect gift for the person you're dating. And as a bonus? You get to celebrate Valentine's Day like Taylor Swift. Do you think Swift will be sitting around moping? No way. If I had to guess, she'll be at home, doing something fun (and themed to the holiday) with Karlie Kloss. Being single doesn't automatically mean you have to hate anything decorated with cupids and bows and arrows. There's a lot of good: Everything's pink, and on Feb. 15, candy will be half-off. Where's the bad in that?

If you still find yourself down about being single for this silly Hallmark holiday, fear not. There's still a chance to salvage the day... and in a way that is totally T. Swift approved.

Bake cookies with your friends

I wouldn't be surprised if Swift Instagrams photos of her, Kloss, Lorde, and Selena Gomez in her adorable kitchen, cooking up some sort of ridiculously complicated but probably delicious batch of heart-shaped cookies. Go to the store, grab some Funfetti mix and icing, and go to town. Make a pan of brownies and eat the whole thing. Being single means no sharing. And everybody knows calories don't count on holidays.

Listen to Swift's most anti-relationship songs.

People give Swift a lot of flack about singing about love, but you have to admit that nobody does heartbreak better than she does. If you're feeling bummed, scream "All Too Well" at the top of your lungs and have a good cry while eating everything in the fridge. What? It's totally cleansing — mind, body, and soul. Not that I've done this before, of course.

Adopt a kitten

A surefire way to avoid being lonely ever again: Adopt a kitten (from a shelter, please!), name him or her after your favorite TV character (in true Swift style), and boom — instant Valentine. A kitten is basically a newborn baby. It will take all of your energy. So much, in fact, that you will probably forget that you're single. Of course, this is only a good idea if you actually want to care for a cat, because they're pretty much a 20-year commitment.

Watch Valentine's Day

It's a terrible movie, but Swift is in it... and she and Taylor Lautner are super cute together, even if their real life romance didn't work out. And if you can't deal with a little cheesiness on Valentine's Day, when is it appropriate?
