The First 'Veep' Season 4 Trailer is Amazing

by Rachel Simon

It's here! It's finally here! After nine long months away from Selina, Gary, and the rest of TV's craziest White House crew, the first trailer for Veep season 4 has arrived. And oh, is it a doozy; not only do we get our first sights of Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Selina Meyer as president, we see Gary balancing his new responsibilities, Amy stressing out over work, and Mike making a fool out of himself in important meetings — in other words, it's exactly like the Veep we know and love, only with the stakes way higher. Plus, there's Hugh Laurie!

The best thing about this peek at the episodes to come, though? It looks like Selina might just be the best TV president since, well, ever. Forget Scandal's Fitz or House of Cards' Frank Underwood; hell, put even The West Wing's legendary Jed Bartlet in the back of your mind. At least judging from this first trailer, it seems certain that it's none other than President Selina Meyer who's set to be the funniest, craziest, and most entertaining fake commander in chief of all time. Seven reasons why:

1. She's Going To Be "Like A Real Life Mariah Carey"

As president, what she says, goes. In Selina's world, where what she says is often ridiculous and dangerous to society, that could only mean trouble.

2. Or "A Lone, Fierce She-Wolf"

Equally badass, but without the diva demands. Either way, a Selina in charge can only be amazing.

3. Her Haircut Rocks

So long to the pageboy cut "her head "has always wanted but was too afraid to ask for." The long hair is back, and it looks better than ever.

4. She Still Relies On Gary

What kind of president would she be without Gary by her side? Thankfully, season 4 of Veep promises a sidekick that's as capable and necessary as Google, a calendar, and Wilson the Volleyball combined.

5. Sue Is Her Secretary

Or at least it looks that way from the trailer. So much entertainment is bound to come from the hilariously blunt, always unamused Sue as her executive secretary.

6. She Tries To Be One Of The People

Don't think that now that Selina is president, she's forgotten her place as a member of the public. She still cooks, bikes, and reads to children, although now with a lot less enthusiasm and way more cameras.

7. She Still Hates The Same Things

And speaking of children... the best scene in the trailer is Selina trying to get through a book reading while constantly getting interrupted by her audience of children who don't seem to realize that she's the most powerful person in the world. This is the Selina we know and love.

Veep returns Apr. 12. Watch the trailer below:
