Shop Olivia's Yellow Paris Fashion Week Coat

by Jessica Willingham

In today's not-so-surprising news, Olivia Palermo is looking fierce in the French city this week. But what else were you expecting from our favorite reality-star-turned-fashionista? First, the 29-year-old American socialite showed up at the Giambattista Valli show looking stunning with a full face of makeup and leather jacket. And then she decided to opt for a different look that I was equally obsessed with. My favorite look of Olivia Palermo's Paris Fashion Week outfits was one that consisted of a bright, cheery yellow coat that oozed mod chic vibes.

The look is a hit for a number of reasons, so let me count the ways. First up, she shows us impeccable execution in the fine art of cuffing your clothes. From her light-washed skinny jeans to the sleeves of her jacket, Olivia created cuffs and kept the look from getting sloppy. It's a small, fine tuned accent, but it goes a long way in making your clothes look edited to perfection. Secondly, she kept things interesting. Notice no two shades are the same in this look, and the color blocking effect keeps things looking high-end. We bow down, Liv.

Olivia wearing a yellow coat has inspired us to round up similar looks you can shop. Because if you haven't already learned, you should definitely add a mod piece to your spring wardrobe. We are looking forward to sunnier, spring days and this yellow trend is just what we needed!

1. Closed, Jersey-Blend Coat

Olivia had a mod-esque look, but this ultra-sleek coat silhouette screams '60s and Beatles-mania. Pair it with round, black sunnies and a tight bun for a cool look. (Closed, jersey-blend coat, $493, mytheresa.com)

2. Michael Kors Felt Double-Breasted Pea Coat In Taxicab

I love the cut of this coat, especially for short or rectangle-shaped girls. It can add curves to the hips and you won't get swallowed in a big, oversized trench. I like pairing these bold coats with relaxed, neutral under layers. Think: white tee and light-washed skinnies, a la Olivia. (Michael Kors felt double-breasted pea coat, $1197, neimanmarcus.com)

3. Leather Long-Sleeved Jacket

This lightweight jacket is perfect for any afterwork party or outing. Throw it over a dress and you easily transition a day look into a night look that is going to stand out. (DSQUARED2 leather long-sleeved jacket, $2215, shopbop.com)

4. Petite Stadium-Cloth Standing-Collar Coat

This collar is everything. Rock the tucked-in-hair with this coat and play up your makeup — everyone is going to be looking that direction! Cuffing these sleeves, similar to what Olivia did, is a nice way to prevent getting lost in a big coat. (Petite stadium-cloth standing-collar coat, $219, jcrew.com)

5. Wool Coat

The two-toned color scheme of this coat is perfect, especially if you can't decide between mustard or lemon hues. Like any wool coat, this is an investment. But this relatively small Dutch designer is up and coming, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to steal the look. The A-line flare of this coat is going to flatter all sizes.
