Check Out These Crazy, Colored Mascaras

by Jamie Cuccinelli

This winter may finally be thawing, but the makeup geniuses behind the Alexander McQueen's fall 2015 show at Paris Fashion Week show are still playing Jack Frost, dusting the models' eyelashes with some seriously snowflake-like mascara. Even the ice queen herself (Elsa, naturally) would totally approve.

After the dark and gloomy, goth beauty looks prevailed at runway shows like Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang, the ethereal, snow princess-y models who glided down the Parisian runway at the McQueen show were a breath of fresh air. The minds behind the ice queen magic? Makeup artist Pat McGrath and hair stylist Guido Palau.

"I created this very fluffy texture, and then sculpted the hair into different shapes based on what looks best with each girl's face," Palau told Refinery29 of the pouffy cloud of hair that angelically floated above each model's head. But the real showstopper of the McQueen runway was definitely the ivory lashes, reminiscent of the Sound of Music tune and a lovely farewell to these snowy, winter days.

McGrath crafted the look with a sleek clear gloss, soft red, bronze, and peach eye makeup and, of course, a few swipes of snow white mascara. This colored mascara trend has actually been taking off in the past few weeks and it's time you've gotten in on the action. Whether you're after that ghostly McQueen look or you desire a brighter pop of color for spring, I've got every one of your lashes covered!
