Arrest Made For Shooting Of Police In Ferguson

According to the St. Louis County Police, an arrest for the Ferguson shooting of two police officers has been made. According to The Washington Post, a man was arrested late Sunday morning, and the weapon used in the shooting is believed to have been found. Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch announced Sunday afternoon that the suspected shooter is Jeffrey Williams, who is in police custody.

A press conference was held on Sunday afternoon that provided more information about the suspect and the arrest for the shooting that wounded two law enforcement officers early Thursday morning as protesters gathered outside the Ferguson Police Department in both celebration of Chief Tom Jackson's resignation as well as still lingering frustration over the shooting of Michael Brown and the subsequent Department of Justice's report that detailed various injustices at the hands of the city's police.

The injured officers were working crowd control on South Florissant Road as the protests Wednesday night/early Thursday morning died down. An officer from the Webster Groves Police Department was shot in the right cheek, under his eye, and an officer from the St. Louis County Police Department was hit in his shoulder. Both were treated for their injuries and released.

The St. Louis County Police Department tweeted confirmation that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
