Mariah's Keeping The Opera Glove Trend Alive

by Sienna Fantozzi

A little black dress is that staple go-to that generally never fails. But apparently now, "little black gloves" are in that equation, as well. Mariah Carey performed at the Human Rights Campaign Gala, and though her LBD was nothing to write home about, she did wear some pretty slick opera gloves. And whether you love it or hate it, you know who to thank for this trend. (Here's lookin' at you, Amal Clooney).

The 44-year-old singer walked the red carpet before taking the stage at the 2015 Human Rights Campaign Gala on Saturday night in Los Angeles, and wore a black, spaghetti strap, floor-length dress. The mermaid gown perfectly accentuated her curves, but it was pretty basic for Mariah, so she glammed it up a bit with some long black gloves and plenty of glittering diamonds. Seriously, woman's dripping in them. From her chandelier earrings, to her three bangles, and two layered necklaces — Carey certainly did sparkle. The event, held at the JW Marriott, was to raise awareness for LGBT human rights issues. The Grammy winner's classic, black look was appropriately sophisticated and elegant, but her accessories definitely provided that added "Mariah" touch we all know and love.
