Rihanna Nails The Half-Up, Half-Down Trend

Rihanna's pixie cut is probably her most famous 'do but she changes her locks so often and never sticks to one style for too long. I personally think her blunt bob with bangs, which was her take on Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface (pictured above), is her best look. Then, while out promoting Home and other endeavors, Rihanna opted for a half-up, half-down style that made me go, "Yep!" Ariana Grande needs to perk up and pay attention, since Rihanna nailed this trend in such a unique way, as only she can.

RiRi went with an imperfect bun positioned at the back of her head while the rest of her hair fell loosely, sitting on her shoulders. She could have gone with the stiff, ho-hum, Grande-favored half-up, half-down pony but she's Rihanna and she doesn't copy the signatures of others.

It might seem like a tame look for Rihanna, who oozes sexiness from pretty much every pore and follicle, but it's refreshing when she throws us for a loop, like she did with the bow twinset that she wore. That was so not "typical Rihanna," either.

I like when she gets all unpredictable with her clothes and her hair, which is what catapulted her to the top of the fashion food chain.

The half-up, half-down, bunhead'ish look isn't the only time Rihanna demonstrated a unique take on long hair style.

This half-up, half-down style was messy and counterbalanced her precious and prim pink outfit.

2. Undercut

She mixed long ombre curls with a close-shaved undercut and it was fabulous. Like model fab.

3. Primo Ponytail

With a deep side part and a low, wrapped pony, Rihanna was able to show off her ear bling.

4. One-Shoulder Waves

The "FourFiveSeconds" singer tried one-shoulder waves so that her hair didn't compete with her statement choker.

5. Dark Volume

Rihanna rarely goes this dark and monochromatic, but this black shade, paired with ruby lips and loads of volume around the crown and top of her head, was unforgettable.

See, even when she opts for long hair, Rihanna always adds distinctly RiRi touches, be it a shaved side or purposeful imbalance, and looks amaze in the process.
