Cindy Crawford Joins The Cancer Fight With QVC

Cancer is ugly. There's really no workaround there. But '90s glamazon Cindy Crawford, who remains relevant to this day, has partnered with her friend, cancer-surviving makeup artist Sonia Kashuk, who has a range of wonderful offerings at Target, to help fight the disease in a beautiful way. Crawford, Kashuk, and QVC are partnering for the "Beauty With Benefits" broadcast. You may want to set a calendar reminder in your phone for April 15, from 10 to 12 PM, since that's when this program airs.

Crawford and Kashuk are serving as the spokesmodels for this event, dubbed "QVC and CEW Present Beauty with Benefits," which will offer shoppers a variety of items from prestige makeup brands like Laura Mercier, Clinique, Laura Geller, Shiseido, Josie Maran, philosophy, and many others.

Go ahead. You're allowed to "Ooh" and "aah," since all those brands are fab. But what happens during this "Beauty With Benefits" event is so, so important. Yes, you can shop luxe items in the color, fragrance, skin, and hair categories, but 80 percent of the purchase price, excluding S&H, is donated to Cancer and Careers, an organization which empowers those living and working with the disease.

So while lipstick, eye shadow, and mascara can pretty much change a person's look, they can also aid in the process of changing one's life. And that is a beautiful thing, on multiple levels.

The broadcast has generated $2.2 million in proceeds for Cancer and Careers since 2013. I personally love that October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness month, is not the only time the beauty industry fights cancer because, you know, the condition isn't relegated to a time frame. It's a daily battle.

"Cancer has affected so many lives, but the challenges of living and working with cancer is often an aspect of the diagnosis that rarely gets attention," Crawford declared in the press release. "That is why I wanted to be a part of this great cause with my dear friend Sonia. Beauty is not just about the way you look, but also about the way you feel inside, and this is an opportunity for beauty to make a difference in people's lives."

Amen, sister!

"As a cancer survivor and beauty industry veteran, I am thrilled to be a part of Beauty with Benefits," stated Kashuk in the release. "It's wonderful to see so many leading names in beauty come together to support such a powerful cause that will impact the lives of so many."

So grab a red Sharpie, draw a big ol' heart around April 15 on your calendar, and shop away. It makes all the difference, for you and for someone living with and battling cancer.
