Hozier's New Video For "Work Song" Is Here!

There aren't really too many scenes to dissect or truly analyze in the new music video for Hozier's single "Work Song." Unlike his video for the mega hit song "Take Me To Church," there don't seem to be a lot of overt religious commentary and critiques on some relationships are perceived, especially the recent LGBT violence in Russia. But that doesn't mean that the video isn't still gorgeous in it's own right.

Don't get me wrong, the lyrics still have all of those things, the song still gives off the message of the beauty in humanity and the strength of love, but the whole video is much more mellow, much more subdued, and that actually makes it just as powerful as "Take Me To Church" but in a completely different and fascinating way.

The video just features Hozier onstage at an abandoned church (because that imagery has to be mentioned somewhere I guess?) with a band, singing the compelling chorus: "When, my, time comes around, lay me gently in the cold dark earth. No grave can hold my body down. I'll crawl home to her." The audience is listening intently and suddenly couples just start dancing in synchronized choreography, one right after the other. I can only imagine what this particular action represents, maybe the idea that all love is true and should be treated equally? But analyzing really isn't necessary, it's just lovely to watch.
