Dior Is Moving Venues For Its Resort Collection

by Eliza Florendo

Fashion is all about the jet setting, isn't it? One week, you're in New York City, the next, in London, then Milan, and finally in Paris. So it comes as no surprise that Dior will move its Resort show from Los Angeles to the South of France. The collection, which was set to show on May 9th, will now be unveiled on May 11.

According to Style.com, the fashion house claimed that they were made an offer for a venue, somewhere in the French Riviera, that they couldn't refuse. And they went for it. I was excited to hear that LA would be hosting a big fashion moment, because the city is definitely having a fashion awakening, with Tom Ford hosting a runway show in February and Burberry throwing a party in mid-April, according to the LA Times.

However, the change in venue and time does make sense, as the Cannes film festival is set for just two days after, on May 13th. Moving the location closer to the film festival will most likely bring a larger audience to the Resort show, as most celebs attend the festival and miss the collection.

Speculation for the time and date change also includes the fact that Louis Vuitton announced that it will also be presenting its very own Resort collection in the Golden State just a few days prior. Maybe Dior is feeling like LV is pulling a Rachel and stealing their thunder?

Whatever the reason, we know Raf and his team will kill it. Who can complain about a venue in the French Riviera?
