Plastic Bag Headdresses Distract From Runway Show

by Lauren Turner

Although fashion week is about fashion, I feel like it's a good place to get totally distracted by something else and then completely miss what you were actually supposed to be paying attention to. That's exactly what happened when Vanessa Moe's models wore plastic bags on their faces. The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia newbie went with a creative headdress that just may have made her the most memorable walk of the show, but unfortunately, for all of the wrong reasons.

Now it can't be confirmed as to whether Moe's models were wearing actual plastic bags on their faces, but that's totally what it looked like. And right off the bat, that poses a lot of safety issues that I just can't get over. Can they breathe? What if it fogs up? But mostly, WHY?

But when you look at the big picture, the shots are stunning. Some models look like water has been thrown on their face, and they're frozen mid-splash. Others look like they've been doused in a freshly cracked egg white. And that's only what it looks like in pictures. I can't imagine what it was like, in real life.

What's a total bummer for Moe is that with everyone so interested in what exactly the models had on their heads, no one saw the clothes that she designed. However, if they did, then they realized that the clothes were perfect. Clean-lined separates in cool neutrals that were so fitting of the environment, made for a strange compliment to the artistic headdresses. I wonder what Moe thought of the final product. Check out some of the model's looks, below.
