'Nerd Prom' Tackles Washington & Hollywood

Everyone's been talking about the White House Correspondents' Dinner, an event that has been a Washington, D.C. staple for decades, though lately the glitz and glamour of the event has almost become as important as the dinner itself. A-list celebrities now attend the dinner and gain major media coverage, and with all of the high-profiles names from Washington and Hollywood alike all in one place, you have better believe there is some delicious behind-the-scenes information about what really goes into such a night. Lucky for us, Patrick Gavin created Nerd Prom: The Movie , an inside look at the White House Correspondents' Dinner and what people do to make it happen.

Gavin attended the dinner for years as a reporter covering the event and eventually got fed up with what he felt was a focus on celebrities. He decided to make a documentary that explains not only what the event is really like, but what exactly go into putting it together every year. From the looks of things, it's going to be an awkward (and hilarious) expose, showcasing just how much the focus has shifted towards celebrities, to the point where some people aren't even sure what the dinner is supposed to be about (hint: the press and scholarship honorees). This clip from Vanity Fair shows a few celebrity attendees who weren't able to name White House correspondents, the very people who put on the event.
