The Best New York City Ballet Spring Gala Style

The New York City Ballet hosted its annual Spring Gala on Friday night to celebrate their newest season and the premiere of La Sylphide, a Danish ballet. Naturally, an assortment of glamorous celebrities appeared on the red carpet in fabulous frocks, ready to dance the night away.

You would expect that wearing a short dress would be best for a ballet event when you might be inspired to get your groove on, but the red carpet attendees adopted longer, looser silhouettes for the big night. Olivia Palermo opted for a long-sleeved, tulle creation from Valentino that we can only imagine looked amazing when she twirled (most likely for paparazzi and not because she was dancing, but whatever). Not to mention her clutch and long french braid are to die for. Indre Rockefeller showed up to the gala in a pair of bright yellow pants by Delpozo and looked amazing.

While Palermo and Rockefeller stuck with a more flower-child, 1960s vibe, some attendees decided to take a cue from flappers (who obviously knew a thing or two about dressing for dancing) and rocked more of a 1920s style. Rachel Roy wore a bright blue fringe dress with a pair of killer heels that, let's face it, are probably not meant for dancing. Refinery29 editor Elettra Wiedemann chose a simple, loose silhouette for the evening.
