Samantha Bee's New Talk Show Looks Incredible

by Jennifer Still

Earlier this year, we received some of the worst news possible for TV fans: Samantha Bee was leaving The Daily Show and there was nothing we could do to stop her. It was a pretty devastating announcement, considering Bee was one of the oldest and most important correspondents the Comedy Central series had ever featured. But it wasn't all bad news! Turns out, Bee was leaving to host her own late night show on TBS, and from the look of the first trailer that was released this week, it's going to be absolutely amazing.

We're all aware by now that there really aren't many females in late-night TV. It's a male-dominated genre and always has been. There's David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, James Corden... the list goes on and on. And those men are all hilarious in their own right and have earned their success— even Jon Stewart, on whose show Bee originally got her start. However, I think we can all agree it's high time to mix things up a bit and let some women in on the late-night talk show action, and Bee is the perfect candidate.

TBS shared the first preview for Bee's show, which seems to be untitled at the moment, at the network's annnual Upfronts this week and I think it's safe to say, we're in for some treats from Bee — and here's why.

She'll change things for the better

Bee has always been critical of the status quo and used her time on The Daily Show to point out the insane amounts of hypocrisy in society with a natural humor. She's likeable, which is sometimes half the battle when you want people to listen to you and take your ideas on board. Having her helm an entire show like this can only make a positive change.

She's not afraid to speak her mind

Yeah, we all know there's still an issue when it comes to women and equality, but there aren't many who will call it out so blatantly, whether or not anyone else likes it. The fact that she starts the first trailer for the show noticing how women are sadly absent from the wall of dudes who've had their own shows means she will call things out when they don't seem right — which is the reason we loved her so much to begin with.

She won't put up with any crap

Because she speaks her mind and isn't afraid to call people out, she's unlikely to put up with any nonsense from anyone. Of course, guests on her talk show are unlikely to be adversaries, by any means, but I'm hoping she features some small segments similar to what she did on The Daily Show, where she investigates unjust situations and then completely reams jerks a new one. She's unapologetic and I love it.

She's female as... well, you know.

I mean, come on. Isn't that enough of a sign that this show is gonna be brilliant? I'm pretty sure it is.
