Professor Holds Baby For Single Mom Student

by Kat George

When I was little, my young, single mother decided to go back to university and get a degree. Being that child care wasn't always an option for her, she'd drag me to classes with her, and as a very quiet only child, I would sit and draw while she listened to lectures. So this little story of a college professor who held a student's baby, calmed him, and continued lecturing so the mother could continue class makes my heart smile in a very special way.

The student mother, like mine, obviously had limited choices when it came to balancing her child with her education, and found her best option to be to bring her baby to class. Because a baby is a baby, the little tyke started crying, which is when all the heartwarming parental support began. An image of the professor, from a college in Jerusalem, was posted to Imgur with the caption, “So one of the students came with her kid, because she didn’t have a babysitter. The kid starts to cry in the middle of the class, so his mom, all embarrassed gets up to leave, and the professor took the kid from her, calmed him and continued teaching.”

This guy is a hero. Supporting mothers who have limited options in bettering their lives is an important community responsibility.

Because we should be helping those with fewer choices, not punishing or repressing them.

Learning and self-betterment are important.

So we should all be a little more tolerant and patient, like this kind professor.

And also, babies are cute.
