How Will They Tell Mason?

by Julie Alvin

Part two of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians: About Bruce special aired on Monday night, and it further delved into Bruce's communication with his family about coming out as transgender and his plans to transition. Now we know how most of the KUWTK crew has reacted to the news, but it remains to be seen how Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick will go about telling their children, Mason, Penelope, and Reign, about the news.

In one scene from the special, Kourtney, Scott, and Mason are hanging out with Khloe and others while talking about Bruce's gender identity, at which point Kourtney says they are trying not to discuss the issue much in front of Mason. "We are waiting to see what Bruce does before we tell Mason," Kourtney says. "I definitely don't want him to find out through someone at school, I want him to find out through us."

"It's such a great lesson to teach him not to judge people," Kourtney continues.

Scott also has some very understanding and progressive thoughts on the issue, saying "It's only a positive for my son and daughter to know all these things that go on in this world." It seems he is eager to expose his children to different walks of life rather than shielding them from such things.

And his acceptance of Bruce is moving. "You only get one chance at this life," Scott says, " and whatever you've gotta do to be happy, you've gotta do it."

Hopefully the world at large can channel sentiments like these when reacting to the plight of transgender people.
