Yes! We're Getting A Julianna Margulies Kids' Book

by Emma Oulton

It turns out The Good Wife is a pretty good daughter, too. According to Entertainment Weekly, Julianna Margulies is publishing a picture book inspired by a story her late father wrote for her and her sisters. The Emmy Award-winning actress found the manuscript after her father’s death, and instantly began searching for the perfect illustrator. It’s such a cute story, I can see why she wanted to share it.

Three Magic Balloons, coming out in May 2016, is about three sisters whose father takes them once a week to the zoo. Their kindness to the animals catches the eye of a vendor, who rewards them with magical balloons that carry them off into the night on an adventure. Moral of the story, kids — always be nice to animals. Random House will be publishing Margulies' book, which captured the attention of editorial director Maria Modugno. Modugno described the story as “enchanting and timeless," with “amazing, gorgeous sketches” by Grant Shaffer, a personal friend of Julianna Margulies.

To make the wait until May less unbearable, at least we'll be getting plenty of Margulies on our screens, as The Good Wife has been renewed for a seventh season. I, for one, hope to see Alicia Florrick's fierce dress sense influencing Michelle Obama’s wardrobe for another year. That will definitely keep me smiling until I can get my hands on Margulies' book.

Julianna Margulies clearly adored her father, and wrote a touching obituary for him after his death last year. Paul Margulies was a big-shot in the advertising world, but his dream was always to retire to his books. Publishing Margulies' story is the perfect way to immortalize the man whose motto in life was that “magic is everywhere, you just need to know where to look.” Looks like his daughter thinks Three Magic Balloons will make children feel just the same way.
