Carly's New Album Finally Has A Release Date

by Alex Kritselis

SUMMERTIME IS SAVED: It was announced on Thursday that Carly Rae Jepsen's new album, E·MO·TION , will be released on Aug. 21. YESSS! An official press release issued by Schoolboy Records/Interscope states that the much-anticipated LP "will be available for pre-order from all retailers beginning June 23." Fantastic. Then, in July, Jepsen will premiere the collection's second single, "Run Away With Me" — a soaring pop anthem she recorded with famed Swedish hit-maker Shellback (Taylor Swift's "Style," Maroon 5's "Payphone," Britney Spears' "I Wanna Go," etc.). Oooh! I'm so amped right now, I'm afraid I might puke.

Juuust kidding... I think.

The best way to celebrate this wonderful news is probably to rock out to Jepsen's criminally underrated major label debut, Kiss, right? Right. If you're already a Kiss lover, my hat's off to you — you have exquisite taste and I know we would be great friends. Unfortunately, it seems like lot of people are under the impression that "Call Me Maybe" is Jepsen's only worthwhile song — and they couldn't be more wrong! Kiss is pure, unadulterated pop perfection from start to finish, and we need to start giving it the recognition it deserves.

Below are my absolute favorite Kiss tracks for your listening enjoyment:

"Turn Me Up"

"Turn Me Up" is my forever bop. (Fun fact: Jepsen co-wrote the song with one of my other faves, the incredibly talented Bonnie McKee.)

"This Kiss"

I'll never forgive the general public for sleeping on "This Kiss." Never.

"Drive"

"Drive" just might have the best hook on Kiss.

"Tonight I'm Getting Over You" (Remix feat. Nicki Minaj)

Nicki Minaj's fiery verse gives "Tonight I'm Getting Over You" a wonderful blast of energy.

"Hurt So Good"

The "eh-eh-eh-yeh-eh" noises Jepsen makes right after "Hurt So Good's" chorus are magical.

"Sweetie"

What kind of bubblegum pop masterpiece?

"Guitar String/Wedding Ring"

"Guitar String/Wedding Ring" is a great song to scream along with in your car. Trust me.

"Call Me Maybe"

C'mon, it's irresistible.
