Meet AMC's 'The Making Of The Mob' Cast — Because The Historical Show Has An All Star Lineup

AMC is taking on the docu-drama series genre with its new eight-part series The Making of the Mob which premieres Monday night. The show gives audiences real history about the rise of Charles "Lucky" Luciano and the classic mobster and mob families that we have seen portrayed in some of the best films and TV specials of the last several decades. But this show does something a little different than your traditional documentary series: It also has scenes of dramatic narrative to explain what really happened in the 1900s and on.

Because the show applies this narrative feature, as well as having historians and celebrities heavily interested in the subject matter talk about the history, it seems necessary to showcase the nameless actors who play these real-life people. Here are the eight actors taking on roles in The Making of the Mob on AMC.

Rich Graff as Lucky Luciano

Rich Graff has had small roles in popular TV shows like 30 Rock and films like Insurgent, but taking on the infamous Charles “Lucky” Luciano on The Making of the Mob is his first big break on television. He’ll next be seen in Martin Scorsese’s 2016 film Silence starring Liam Neeson and Andrew Garfield.

Ian Bell as Meyer Lansky

Playing Meyer Lansky, the math genius and right-hand man of Lucky Luciano, is Ian Bell. This is the actor’s first big television or film role, as Bell has only appeared in smaller, independent features over the last few years.

John Stewart Jr. as Bugsy Siegel

John Stewart Jr., aka Jonathan C. Stewart, plays the tough yet charming mobster from Brooklyn in Lucky Luciano’s gang. In reality he’s described as a: ”genial Midwestern dude with an easy smile.”

Craig Rivela as Vito Genovese

Craig Rivela takes on the challenging role of playing real-life mobster Vito Genovese, who was the head of Lucky Luciano’s crime family when Luciano was sentenced to jail. But after a series of events, he ended up leaving the family, then coming back, and attempted to usurp power (which he eventually did, as the crime family was renamed after him). This is Rivela’s biggest TV role to date.

Anthony DiCarlo as Frank Costello

Playing the infamous Frank Costello, this is Anthony DiCarlo’s third acting job to date. His first was his own project that he wrote and produced. Playing Costello will certainly be a huge step in the right direction for the actor’s career, considering how important a role his character Costello played in shaping the mob families of New York.

Stelio Savante as Joe Masseria

Stelio Savante is quite possibly the most well-known actor in The Making of the Mob. The South African born actor, producer, and writer has co-starred on Ugly Betty (for which he was nominated for a Screen Actor’s Guild award with the whole cast), as well as the film A Beautiful Mind. He’s got several new projects in the works as well.

Umberto Celisano as Al Capone

He’s been acting for about five years now, but Umberto Celisano’s big break is definitely The Making of the Mob, as he plays the big boss of Chicago himself, Al Capone. Those are some huge shoes to fill.

Roberto De Felice as Salvatore Maranzano

De Felice has been around the TV world for some time. Funnily enough, the actor has connections to the TV mob world, playing a character in one episode of The Sopranos. This series is his first recurring role on a bigger name network. He’ll play the rival crime boss to Joe Masseria, and the man who co-started the Castellammarese War.
