Janet Jackson's "No Sleeep" Is The New Makeout Jam

by Maggie Malach

Fans have waited seven years for new Janet Jackson music, and her latest song, "No Sleeep," proves the wait was worth it. The sultry track is perfect for steamy summer days (and, of course, hot summer flings). Let's take a look at the lyrics, shall we? "No Sleeep" is pretty direct in its meaning. Ms. Jackson isn't planning on getting any shut eye now that she's got her man by her side. But, in case you have any doubts of her intentions, here's the chorus: "You're missing me, I'm missing you / Whenever we meet, we ain't gonna get no sleep / When I get to be together with you / Cause we are complete, we ain't gonna get no sleep."

The second verse confirms what I already suspected. Jackson has a limited amount of time with her lover, but she intends on making the most of it. "48 hours in love / It oughta be a weekend marathon / So you better get ready, my king / Cause I'ma be the queen of insomnia," she sings. (See, I told you it's perfect for summer flings!)

Adding to the overall sultriness of the song is Jackson's smooth chant. This is a slow-burner, the kind that will instantly be added to a million make out playlists. Not to mention that the lyrics are hot, hot, hot.

Perhaps one of the steamiest aspects of the song is when Jackson encourages her man with "So think outside the box, my baby / Show me how much you are missing me." Gentlemen, take notes. This is how you woo a lady.

"No Sleeep" will be featured on Jackson's upcoming album, which is slated to drop sometime this fall. The title of the project hasn't officially been released yet, but the word on the street is that it will be called Conversations in a Cafe . You can check out "No Sleeep" in the video above. Jackson is back in our lives with another hit song that is guaranteed to be stuck in your head, and a staple of iTunes playlists everywhere, for decades to come. This is one song that was well worth the seven year wait.
