A Donald Trump Piñata Is Finally Here

by Greta Jochem

Sometimes, catharsis is just what you need. In response to Donald Trump's campaign announcement labeling calling Mexicans drug dealers and rapists, a Mexican artist< took the situation into his own hands — and is passing them on to the angry masses. According to The Independent, Javier Avalos Ramirez bashed Trump right back by creating a Donald Trump look-a-like piñata.

He told The Independent, "It was a way of expressing disagreement of what he said about us Mexicans. Donald Trump should not promote racism against Mexicans or Latinos in America."

According to The Washington Post, in the real estate mogul's presidential campaign announcement speech Tuesday, Trump called the United States a "dumping ground," especially for its southern neighbor:

It’s true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

His offensive comments didn't stop there. Nope — in fact, Trump suggested we aim to keep Mexicans out of the country.

I will build a great, great wall on our southern border ... and I will have Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.

Ramirez explains his reaction to BuzzFeed News, "We thought it would be a good idea to make a piñata of Trump because a lot of people would like to hit him." It's a solid point.

The artist told Fox News Latino, “We thought [Trump's comments] were very wrong because we are a working country, we go to the United States to work, but unfortunately we face a lot of racism." Interested in buying one? Fox News Latino reported that Ramirez is selling his piñatas for 500 pesos, the equivalent of $40. As of Friday, he has sold 5 and has other interested clients.

Admittedly, the piñata does look a lot like Trump. Ramirez told BuzzFeed News that Trump's trademark hair was the most challenging part. This isn't Ramirez's first piñata of a famous figure. PRI's The World reported that Ramirez has made papier-mâché look alike of Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian, and Caitlyn Jenner.

With a recent poll showing Trump is the least favored 2016 Republican presidential candidate, it's safe to say Ramirez isn't the only one who wants to take a whack at Trump. For 40 bucks, I'd say it's worth it.
