Marc By Marc Jacobs Is Going Out With A Bang

by Eliza Florendo

We all heard the sad news that Marc by Marc Jacobs would be no more, and the brand would streamline into a single structure for the spring. Luckily, the label will go out with a bang: Marc by Marc Jacobs and Disney will collaborate for a holiday merchandise partnership. This exciting news was unveiled last week when Marc by Marc Jacobs hosted their final collection, resort 2016.

The merch, which is associated with the upcoming movie Alice Through The Looking Glass, will release in May of 2016. The small collection is titled "I am Not Like Other Girls," and will offer "sunglasses, totes, backpacks ,phone cases, jewelry, watches, sweatshirts, and more," according to WWD. Everything will be "loosely inspired by the iconography from the classic fairytale. Cartoonish bow-shapes, snickering pansy flowers and heart-shaped keys are superimposed onto a number of items."

The products will retail from $60 to $400 and will be available worldwide in November. What's more, the Alice theme will continue onto Marc by Marc Jacobs' send-off holiday display windows at some stores. WWD reports that Marc Jacobs' International CEO Sebastial Suhl said that this last Marc by Marc Jacobs collection has previews of the future of the streamlined brand, which is basically a throwback into the brand's younger years with playful designs and unexpected details.

While we'll all miss Marc by Marc Jacobs' more modest prices, quality products, and signature pieces that definitely make a quirky statements, I'm glad their goodbye gives a nod to our childhood favorite. This way, we definitely won't forget about this dearly loved brand.
