Julia Roberts Helped Design A #CureBatten Necklace

Hollywood's biggest star just wrapped her most personal project to date. In support of her friends Gordon and Kristen Gray's charity, Julia Roberts asked Me&Ro jewelry to design a necklace to help raise funds towards finding a cure for Batten disease. The rare and fatal brain disease affects a very small population at a time, mostly children between 5 and 10 years old. The Grays' daughters both have been diagnosed with the neurodegenerative condition, so they established the Charlotte & Gwenyth Gray Foundation in their honor. Upon Roberts' request, Me&Ro designer Robin Renzi created the Gray Foundating Double Heart Pendant.

“When I was asked to help the Grays in their fight to raise money for their daughters’ foundation, I was so moved by their story I felt I had to do something,” Renzi said. The limited edition necklace features two interlocking hearts with a smaller heart design enclosed in a hexagon. The necklace is available in 18K gold or sterling silver, and 100 percent of the proceeds will fund research against Batten disease.

Film producer Gordon and his wife Kristen are raising $10 million to find a cure for the disease affecting their daughters and other young children. Several celebrities have rallied behind the #CureBatten cause, including Lena Dunham, Channing Tatum, and Gwyneth Paltrow. The Gray family is thankful for the amount of support that Oscar winner Roberts has shown, especially with the exclusive Me&Ro necklace.
