Reactions To The Iran Nuclear Deal

Tuesday is a historic day for Iran and the world. After decades of sanctions and tense negotiations over the country's nuclear program, six world powers and Iran reached a nuclear deal in what is being hailed as the world's biggest diplomatic win in years. The agreement could usher in a new era for the Middle East region, but there have been strong reactions on both sides of the Iran nuclear deal.

In a brief press conference Tuesday, Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called the agreement a "win-win solution" and a "new chapter of hope" for the country that had long suffered under strict economic sanctions. But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the agreement a "bad mistake of historic proportions." American allies Israel and Saudi Arabia were the loudest opponents to a nuclear deal, which they argued would allow for Iran to develop nuclear weapons. According to Reuters, Netanyahu said:

Iran will get a jackpot, a cash bonanza of hundreds of billions of dollars, which will enable it to continue to pursue its aggression and terror in the region and in the world. This is a bad mistake of historic proportions.

But for now, Iranians are taking to the streets in celebration over the deal, which now enters final negotiations, and people across the world are chiming in on what impact (or consequences, depending on how you look at it) the historic move will have for the country and beyond.
